Vegetables in the Croft Area

Calina is a great helper and helped us plant our vegetables. The pupils and the teachers worked very hard on the croft.
The croft looked really horrible without the wooden planks around it and the soil was all over the path.
When it was finished it was beautiful.
Calina MacDonald works for the Skye and Lochalsh Horticultural Association and has assisted the children as part of the "Local Food for Local Schools" Project.

Calina bought us lots of vegetables after the Easter holidays. Then two weeks ago we harvested them.
We planted purple and white potatoes, orange and purple carrots and red and white cabbages.

The Potato Pinchers took nearly all of our potatoes but there were still enough left for us to eat and enjoy.
This plate shows some of our potatoes and vegetables being eaten for school dinners
Our thanks also to Jewsons, the local builders merchants for supplying the wood for the raised vegetable beds, which has greatly improved the croft area.
